B&B's Godfrey Will Be At The Emmys!

LinseyGodfreyGall.jpg

Linsey Godfrey (Caroline, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) totally missed the announcement of the Daytime Emmy nominations because she was in physical therapy! "I got a call from [B&B executive producer and headwriter] Brad Bell," she recalls. "And then I got text messages from another producer. I checked my messages really quickly. They said 'Congratulations.'" She laughs and adds, "I said, 'For what?'"

Due to B&B being a half-hour soap, the actors were allowed to submit two episodes to make the same hour as the other shows, so she submitted the scenes where Rick found out that Caroline kissed Ridge. "I wanted to do a different episode, but it aired four days after the cut off!" she laments.

In fact, Godfrey wasn't really involved in what was submitted to the committee, since it occurred just after her accident where she was struck by a car. "I was in the hospital," she reveals. "I felt so bad they had to call and ask. I was not really paying attention. I was just like, 'Oh, I don't care. Just submit what you want!'"

With the ceremony coming up in less than a month, she's already looking at potential gowns, but isn't quite sure how well she'll be able to get around the venue. "I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be out of these 'moon boots,'" Godfrey says. "I think I'll be out of at least one of them, but I'm hoping I'll be out of both. I don't think I'll be able to wear heels. I'm hoping my gowns are long enough that they cover my feet. But I'll feel so short!"

B&B's Karen "Steals" Brooke's Dad!

DuffyFosters.jpg

Brooke has, ahem, shall we say, "stolen" many men on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL over the years. Well, now, turnabout is fair play! THE FOSTERS executive producer Joanna Johnson, who recurs as Karen on the CBS sudser, has snagged Patrick Duffy (ex-Stephen) to play Robert Quinn, Sr., the father of Callie's biological pop, Robert (played by Kerr Smith, Ryder, AS THE WORLD TURNS) in the drama's season finale.

"I was mesmerized by Patrick's work on B&B," FOSTERS executive producer Johnson tells Soaps In Depth. "He gave this beautiful speech to Katie and did it in one take. He was so good I forgot I was in the scene! When this part came up, I wrote him an E-mail and begged him to come on to the show."

Watch for Robert and Callie to see each other in a new light after Robert's dad visits. "We've alluded to the dynamic that Robert's father had something to do with him leaving Callie's mother," Johnson says. Might the former DALLAS star return for more shows when THE FOSTERS returns for its third season? "We definitely want to bring him back," the exec adds.

The episode in which Duffy appears is titled "The End Of The Beginning," and was written by Johnson and fellow executive producers Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige. It airs tonight, March 23, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC Family.

Maya's Secret Stuns Soap Fans!

MayaEp.jpg

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL broke unexpected ground at the end of today's episode when Nicole purported that her sister Maya was born Myron — in other words, that she was her brother! While it was not entirely clear from the cliffhanger's final tag (and the look on Maya's face) whether Nicole had her facts correct, subsequent mainstream media stories have confirmed that B&B is embarking on a soap first by featuring a transgender character as part of its regular cast (though it's not the first to feature a transgender person — ABC's THE CITY once featured a transgender fashion model named Azure and ALL MY CHILDREN introduced a glam rocker named Zarf who identified as a woman.)

One source tells Soaps In Depth that B&B has been working closely in conjunction with GLAAD, the leading advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, to make sure they tell this upcoming storyline with accuracy and sensitivity. The source also says Karla Mosley (Maya) is absolutely thrilled with the story twist. "Totally not supposed to be tweeting," Mosley posted to her Twitter page following Wednesday's East Coast airing, "but thanks for all the LOVE. So much more to come."

"It is about people respecting other people's differences and their uniqueness," said executive producer and headwriter Bradley Bell in a statement published on USAToday.com. "In the end, we all want to be loved, and in order to love someone else you first have to love yourself. If you are transgender, gay, straight, it doesn't matter. It's about finding love in life. This is a love story."

B&B had been keeping details of this storyline under tighter security than Fort Knox in recent weeks, but following the airing of Wednesday's episodes the Twitterverse exploded with responses that ran the gamut from stunned and excited by the unexpected reveal to bewildered, particularly by the fact that Maya claimed to have had a baby that died after she gave it up. That question, and many more, will presumably be answered in the days and weeks to come!

Share your own reactions to this surprising twist in the comments!

B&B Star To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award!

BettyROCKERS.jpg

We still don't even know the final nominees for the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (those will be announced on Thursday, March 26), but The National Academy of Television Arts And Sciences has revealed one of the trophies will be given to Betty White (ex-Ann, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award!

"Betty White is an American institution," says Bob Mauro, president of NATAS. "Betty's career as a female pioneer has followed television from literally the beginning of the medium, winning her first Emmy Award in 1952, to the digital-streaming future, winning again in 2010. She is one of the most beloved female performers in the history of television and the National Academy is proud to be honoring her with a most well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award."

Long Live The QUEENS OF DRAMA!

QueensOfDrama.jpg

The new reality series QUEENS OF DRAMA, set to debut on Pop starting Sunday, April 26, at 10:00 p.m. EST (right after The Daytime Emmys!), features a bevy of leading ladies from the world of soaps. Donna Mills (Madeline, GENERAL HOSPITAL; Abby, KNOTS LANDING) headlines the cast, which includes Hunter Tylo (ex-Taylor, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), Crystal Hunt (Lizzie, GUIDING LIGHT; Stacy, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda, GH), and two former PASSIONS stars: Lindsay Hartley (Theresa) and Chrystee Pharris (Simone).

The series features the actresses as they try to form a team that will create and star in its own nighttime series. "We're all strong," Mills tells Soaps In Depth. "The [other women on the show] have been terrific with me, but they're strong. They have their ideas, which is good and it made the show really come alive. You see what they want, what gets in the way of that and how they end up getting what they want."

As KNOTS fans recall, Mills' Abby was a savvy businesswoman who most always got the last laugh. Will we see her express certain "Abby-isms" throughout the show? "It's me, not Abby," clarifies, Mills, then hastens to adds, "There will be more 'Donna-isms.'"

After its premiere, QUEENS OF DRAMA will settle into its regular time slot on Wednesday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m. EST on Pop for its 10 episode run. Check out the following clip below to get a taste of what the show has to offer — and be sure not to miss the appearance of guest Joan Collins (Alexis, DYNASTY; Alexandra, GL)!

The Daytime Emmys Are Back On TV!

The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences has announced that the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, April 26, at 8:00 p.m. ET on Pop. They also revealed that the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held Friday, April 24, at the Universal Hilton in Los Angeles. "Our new partnership with the Pop network is an ideal platform to present our signature gala," said Bob Mauro, President, NATAS. "With the Warner Bros Studios as our venue, where so many great films and television shows have been made, coupled together with Michael Levitt, our executive producer, who created the 'TV Land Awards,' and has produced numerous live event specials including 'The Producers Guild Awards,' 'The Billboard Music Awards,' and 'E! Live from the Red Carpet' shows for the Golden Globes and Oscars®, this promises to be a very special telecast of the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards."

"As a network that celebrates talent, we are thrilled to bring the Daytime Emmy Awards back to television for the fans," said Brad Schwartz, President of Pop. "Daytime audiences are some of the most amazing and passionate in all of television, and we are proud to honor the greatest works and achievements of daytime. B&B Alum Joins Web Soap WINTERTHORNE!

LindaGray.jpg

How do you make a series centered on a candy empire even tastier? By adding DALLAS star Linda Gray (ex-Priscilla, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) to the mix!

When WINTERTHORNE, the new Web series from DEVANITY creator Michael Caruso, begins production next month, Gray -- best known as DALLAS' liquor-lovin' Sue Ellen Ewing -- will step into the role of matriarch Joanna Winterthorne.

"Linda has a warmth and strength that embodies Joanna," says Caruso, adding that he "wrote this part specifically for her. It's always an honor when you write for a specific actor and they see themselves in the part. This is a moment I will never forget as a producer!"

Martha Madison (ex-Belle, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), who'll play Joanna's daughter, Miranda, admits to being excited about working with the iconic star. "I have so many special memories of watching DALLAS with my own mother," Madison says, "so having Linda play my mother now feels like a full-circle moment!"

WINTERTHORNE promises to flip traditional serialized storytelling on its head by focusing on a female-centric empire in which the men play supporting roles. As well as the aforementioned cast, the sudser also features Gordon Thompson (DYNASTY) and Josh Thrower (90210), with more casting expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Ridge & Brooke: Is It Really Over?

RidgeBrooke.jpg

Nobody can say that THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Brooke didn't try her best! Donning a barely-there outfit, she tried luring Ridge down to the pool for a little fun and, when he nixed that idea, made it clear that she wanted him back! Ridge, however, made it clear he had feelings for Caroline. Skeptical, Brooke insisted that to her, "this looks like a midlife crisis!" Ridge, however, placed Brooke firmly in the friend zone before dashing off to meet Caroline and reaffirming his commitment to her.

But is this really the end for Brooke and Ridge, or were Donna and Pam right to warn Caroline that the much-married duo always wind up reuniting? Should Brooke fight for Ridge, try and steal Bill away from Katie, find a new man... or maybe try flying solo for a while?

B&B Star On The Mend

LinseyGodfrey.jpg

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Linsey Godfrey (Caroline) was struck by a car in West Los Angeles yesterday, February 2. Thankfully, the actress is expected to make a full recovery.

"Her ankles are banged up and she's had surgery on one foot," reports her manager, Theo Swerissen. "But the doctor says everything is looking pretty good."

It's still too soon to tell how quickly Godfrey will be back on her feet (literally!), but she is expected to be released from the hospital soon. She's in good spirits and ready to go home, so hopefully she'll be back at work before you know it!

"Absolutely," confirms Swerissen. "That's her passion. She loves working, so I think she'll be back on the show sooner than we are even guessing!"

A rep for B&B has said that they have already rearranged their taping schedule to accommodate Godfrey's condition, and will wait until more details on her progress before making any major decisions like perhaps sending Caroline to the Paris office for a stretch or temporarily recasting the role.

Our best wishes go out to Godfrey for a speedy recovery! Get well soon!

THE FOSTERS Returns!

TheFostersCast.jpg

The critically-acclaimed series, THE FOSTERS, which stars Teri Polo and Sherri Saum (Keri, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; Vanessa, SUNSET BEACH), returns tonight, Monday, January 19, on ABC Family at 8 p.m. ET with its winter premiere. The show is executive produced by Joanna Johnson (Karen; ex-Caroline, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), who promises that the story points introduced in the premiere and in last December's Christmas special will continue to play out as the rest of the season unfolds.

"Callie's going to be spending a lot of time with her [birth father] Robert Quinn (played by AS THE WORLD TURNS' Kerr Smith, Ryder). She'll start to develop a relationship with him [which] could be confusing to her," Johnson says. "We're also going to [continue to] explore the friendship between Jude and Connor."

Later in the season, viewers will see guest stars including THE VIEW's Rosie O'Donnell (Naomi, ALL MY CHILDREN) and Patrick Duffy (ex-Stephen, B&B; Bobby, DALLAS). "Last season, Girls United [which Rosie's character, Rita, ran] burned down so she's without a home to bring girls to," Johnson notes. "We love having Rosie on our show. She's such a dynamic, warm person. Patrick's going to be playing Robert's father. We've alluded to the dynamic [with] Robert's father having something to do with him leaving Callie's mother. Callie's going to meet her biological grandfather and it'll be interesting."

Johnson says she grew to admire Duffy's talent when he was doing a scene on B&B as Katie's dad. "I was mesmerized," the actress/producer recalls. "He just nailed it one take. He was so good I forgot I was in the scene!" It'll take a while for Duffy to pop up on the show, but Johnson is hoping he returns for future episodes. "We definitely want to bring him back!"

"I believe the Forresters have stated, since the show's first Christmas, that they go to the mission and spend the morning there before having their feast at the Forrester estate. So this year, we're actually going to do a 'reality-style' episode there."

When B&B originally filmed on location at the charity, Susan Flannery (ex-Stephanie) served as an interviewer, of sorts, interacting with real people who have come to rely on the mission's services. This year, John McCook (Eric) will fill that role. "We just want to remind the world that there are people who are less fortunate who need help during these times of celebration," says Bell. "We really want to encourage people to think beyond the walls of their home and really reach out and help their fellow brothers and sisters whenever they have a chance."

B&B Recap: Eric Calls Rick Out!

RickEric.jpg

Rick was furious when orders for the wildly-overpriced line came pouring in. Overhearing Rick's reaction and realizing he'd attempted to sabotage the line, Eric lost his... let's go with cool. When Maya tried to chime in, Eric put her in her place (meaning on the other side of the office door), then lashed into his son. "You're married to a designer and sleeping with a model," shouted Eric. And while some folks might think, "Huh, that doesn't sound so bad," Eric's point was that his son was making a fool of himself and throwing away a fantastic marriage. When Rick still didn't see the problem, Eric decided to play hardball by saying, in essence, "Maya or the job... you can't have both!"

Exiled from the room in which the big boys were playing, Maya tried getting herself some media attention only to be snubbed by the press. Laughing, Carter said it was "almost as if they have no idea how big and important you are!" When Maya insisted she was living a fairy tale, Carter suggested otherwise. "And you're Cinderella at the ball?" he asked. "Be careful Maya. It might turn out that you're just the stepsister trying to cram her foot into Caroline's shoe." Even as Eric was pushing his son to reunite with Caroline, the blonde was admitting to Ridge that she had fallen for him! Which made it the perfect time for Rick to enter and declare to his wife, "I need you. Could you please forgive me?"

Do you think Rick is sincere... or trying to save his job? Is Maya headed for a fall? Can Caroline forgive Rick, or is she destined to be with Ridge? Hit the comments and let us know what you think will happen!

B&B Recap: Caroline & Ridge's Triumph!

RidgeCarolineBruised.jpg

At the fashion show preview, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Gloria swung by and caught up with her pal Eric. (Anybody else feel Stephanie rolling over in her grave and think, "Yes! Pair Eric and Gloria up and let the fun begin!"?) As expected, Gloria commented on the price of the gowns, saying they gave her "sticker shock." But once the show began, everyone was wowed by the designs. Watching from backstage, Caroline was thrilled... and wondered where her design partner was. Well, where Ridge was was up on the roof, getting the crap beaten out of him by Bill! When not exchanging punches, they traded barbs, but it seemed pretty clear that Bill emerged the victor. Before strutting away, he told Ridge to stay away from Caroline, saying that if the dressmaker hurt her or Katie, and you have to picture him saying this Terminator style, "I'll be back!"

As Maya prepared to walk the runway in the showstopper, Caroline made it clear that she was the designer and Rick's mistress was basically a hanger with legs. (Even the other models seemed to give Maya a bit of stank face before the show began! And it was kind of awesome when Rick pointed out to Maya, who clearly wanted to hear what a fantastic job she'd done, that the designs probably had at least something to do with the show being a hit.) When it came time for the designers to greet their adoring public, Ridge — being all battered and bruised — sent Caroline to represent both of them. When she returned from her moment in the spotlight, Ridge declared, "I couldn't be more proud. We did this together. Hand in hand." And then took her hand as she got all googly eyed and Rick glared from the sidelines.

B&B Recap: Bill Punches Ridge!

RidgeBill.jpg

As the fashion preview was about to begin, Ridge got still more notes from Rick. When Ridge stormed into Rick's office, Maya was, of course, there to butt into the resulting argument. (Sidenote: Maya told Rick that she was nervous, having never done a couture show before. So for those paying attention, Rick made a couture fashion house's lead model someone who has never done a single couture show. Brilliant move, dude!) The more Maya spoke, the more Ridge fumed. When she finally left to get ready for the fashion show, Ridge snarkily said, "You go ahead and break a leg!" Ridge begged Rick not to throw away what he has with Caroline, but his efforts were for naught. In the end, Ridge asked that Rick give Caroline five minutes after the show. "Let her have her say," he begged. "You owe that to her. You owe it to yourself."

Bill talked to Caroline to get his niece's side of the story. "I really want to understand how much Forrester took advantage of my daughter," said Bill, realizing he'd made a bit of a Freudian slip and adding, "my niece." Caroline tried talking her uncle down, but he declared, "You may have married Rick, but you are a Spencer," and that meant Ridge wasn't going to get away with having used her. Tracking Ridge down, Bill declared, "We've got some business." Labeling Ridge a predator who uses-and-abuses women, Bill warned him to stay away from Caroline. When Ridge suggested that Bill might be at least in part responsible for the mess given that he had Ridge dumped from a helicopter, Bill all but laughed in his face. "Will you stop freakin' crying about that?" Bill said before proving his intention to protect both Caroline and Katie by slugging Ridge!

B&B Recap: Katie Unleashes Bill On Ridge!

BillKatie.jpg

Eric and Rick agreed that Ridge and Caroline's designs were downright gorgeous. In fact, Rick suggested they should sell for about as much as a two-bedroom condo in Brentwood. Ridge, of course, immediately realized that Rick was trying to sabotage the line. Caroline begged Rick to get past his anger and work on their marriage, but he wasn't much interested in doing that. Katie and Bill had a nice catch-up session, during which she filled him in on everything that had been going on in her life. You know, stuff like "the baby is fine" and "my husband-to-be seduced your niece for his own purposes." Needless to say, Bill did not take that last development particularly well. In fact, Bill stormed right over to Forrester so he could confront "the Sultan of chiffon." It just so happened that he arrived in time to find Ridge comforting Caroline with a hug, setting the stage for an explosive confrontation... and today's cliffhanger!

B&B Recap: Hope Takes Off!

HopeWyattAirplane.jpg

On Monday's episode of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Hope — having seen Liam and Ivy kiss — pouted until Wyatt agreed to take her back to Los Angeles. On the plane, she finally apologized and Wyatt was, as always, accepting of her behavior. "We have to focus on our marriage," he reminded her, "and that baby inside of you is our future." But two seconds after agreeing to focus on her marriage, Hope drifted off into memories of her relationship with Liam. In Amsterdam, Liam and Ivy confirmed their love for one another and spent the night together. Rick gifted Maya with diamonds and made love to her in his office, but his mind was still on Caroline. For her part, Caroline hoped to fix things with her hubby, but that was about to get a tad more complicated. Why? Because Eric was so thrilled by Ridge and Caroline's designs, that he insisted they continue to work together!

Making A BOLD Move?

Thiebaud3.jpg

Is Kelly Thiebaud jumping ship as GENERAL HOSPITAL's Britt to tackle the role of Steffy on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL?

While ABC does not comment on actor contracts, sources tell Soaps In Depth that Thiebaud had opted not to sign a new deal with GH, and has been on recurring status with the soap until her character could ultimately be written out. Rumor has it that B&B swooped in and made the actress an offer she couldn't refuse!

Alas, the rumor is exactly that, and nothing more. A spokesperson for the CBS soap tells In Depth that there is no truth to it, and that Thiebaud will not be joining the cast of B&B as Steffy Forrester.

What You Missed On Today's B&B!

HopeWyattLiamIvy.jpg

For some viewers on the East Coast, Wednesday's episode of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL was interrupted by breaking news. You can catch the episode on CBS.com... or let us catch you up on what you missed!

Eric was caught off guard when he received a surprise visit from Taylor, who told him that Steffy was shell-shocked to learn that Hope had married Wyatt. She also informed him that she and Thorne were no longer an item. Eric thought he'd dodged a bullet when Stephanie's portrait remained on the wall after he gave Taylor a peck on the cheek, but when the shrink left, the picture came crashing to the floor!

Clearly uncomfortable in Ivy and Liam's presence, Hope asked Wyatt to be patient with her during this trip as she tried to come to terms with the fact that Liam was moving on. Wyatt encouraged Liam to get more game where Ivy was concerned and step up the romance. In Dam Square, Hope and Ivy took part in a glamorous photo shoot to showcase Ivy's jewelry designs, but there was clearly tension between the two women. While Ivy was in front of the camera, Liam sidled up to Hope and asked her if she was okay. She admitted she wasn't okay, seemingly admitting that she still yearned for him!
