No-Drama Mama

Thumbnail image for AshleighBrewer.jpg Having been bested by Steffy in the "Who Will Win Liam?" competition, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Ivy has found a none-too-shabby consolation prize in his brother, Wyatt. And after what she's been through this summer, she deserves it, notes her portrayer, Ashleigh Brewer!

"It definitely got to the point where I'd read the script and my heart would break for her a little bit," says the actress of her alter ego's rough go of things with Liam, who, in the eyes of many fans, disrespected the brunette by tossing her aside in favor of her overtly sexy cousin. "Even as an actor, it's upsetting when a relationship like that ends," adds Pearce. "You build a nice, solid working relationship with a co-star, and then you're like, 'Awww — we're not going to be working with each other as much!'"

Soaps In Depth recently caught up with Brewer to chat about what makes Ivy different from the other "Forresters" on the show, and whether or not the jewelry maker might ever rethink her insistence on taking the high road in life. We've got it all in the latest issue, on-sale now!

Look Out Ridge -- Here Comes Thomas!

PiersonFodeThomas.jpg

Pierson Fodé debuts on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL today, Monday, July 27 in the role of Thomas, last portrayed by Adam Gregory in 2014.

"Who's ready for Thomas Forrester? I know I am!" tweeted the daytime newcomer, who also stars with Victoria Justice in the film adaptation of the YA novel, Naomi & Ely's No Kiss List, which premiered this month in L.A. (Viewers may also recognize Fodé from the Disney series JESSIE, on which he plays a recurring love interest of the title character.)

Thomas has been living in Paris working at Forrester International in recent years, but he returns to L.A. with new ambitions that might not sit so well with his father, Ridge, and which could put his former flame, Caroline, in a rather awkward position! Do Thomas's romantic "designs" include more than the sketches in his drawing pad?

Diamont's Mission: Make 'Em Laugh

DonDiamontGal.jpg THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Don Diamont knows his alter ego, Bill, can be crass, cocky, impudent and arrogant, but does he make you laugh? If so, then the actor is confident he's doing his job right.

"I recently got a text from my cousin saying that a friend of hers on Facebook told her she laughed-out-loud at my scene," he says. "I think that's why audiences love Bill. He's entertaining, he's fun, and he brings everybody in on the joke. He's very multi-dimensional in that way." Diamont recently chatted with Soaps In Depth about how humor is the most important component of his character, and why it makes him immune, in many ways, from being boxed into storyline corners — a fate that can sometimes befall other daytime villains.

"Bill just really has fun messing with people," the actor says with a chuckle. "I see him as a sort of pirate, but the pirate that people love. He's an antihero."

Check out the latest issue, on sale now, to find out which legendary characters in film and television history have inspired Diamont's portrayal. (We guarantee a few will surprise you!)

Shocker! Popular B&B Star Is Out!

AshlynPearce.jpg

In a move almost as shocking as the surprise twist during today's episode of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Ashlyn Pearce (Aly) has announced that she's exiting the soap. "Thank you all for the love & support," the popular young actress posted on Twitter after Aly seemingly died following a confrontation with Steffy on today's show. "Aly Forrester was a role I feel so blessed to have been able to play. #TeamAly."

Pearce joined the B&B cast in 2013 when the role of Thorne and Darla's daughter was aged to be a teenager. Tell us in the comments below, are you sad to see Pearce exit as Aly?

Thorne Comes Home To A Crisis!

WinsorHarmon.jpg

After more than a year away, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Thorne returns on Thursday, July 23, to discover that while he's been holding down the Forrester fashion fort in Paris, his daughter, Aly, has been spiraling out of control!

B&B vet Winsor Harmon (Thorne) tells Soaps In Depth he's thrilled to be back for such an emotionally intense storyline. "Thorne has been living in Paris running International," explains the actor. "While he generally knows what's been going on at Forrester on a day-to-day basis, as far as personal things relating to his family, he's not fully aware of what's been happening."

Aly's erratic (some might say psychotic) behavior in recent weeks is something Thorne's going to have to deal with as a concerned father, but exactly how he'll help resolve his daughter's troubling behavior remains to be seen. "It all stems from her issues with Taylor," he explains. "Aly's always going to have issues surrounding the death of her mother, and Thorne is going to have to keep close tabs on that."

Thorne's homecoming, consequently, isn't likely to be a happy one, but Harmon says reprising the character has been nothing short of amazing. "B&B has been my home for eighteen years, and that's not something that's easy to walk away from or turn your back on," he says. "I never take it for granted. It's always a privilege to be involved with this show, and I'm smart enough to appreciate it!"

Jennifer Gareis Gets Back To Basics

What is beauty? THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Jennifer Gareis (Donna) thinks it has very little to do with waistlines and wrinkle creams and much more to do with inner peace. The actress has found just that in recent years after becoming a mother to 5-year-old Gavin and 3-year-old Sophia, two cuties who have thrown their mama's beauty regimen on its ear!

"When you're a mom, you don't have time to think about any of that stuff," she chuckles. "I think when you're younger — especially being an actor — there's a lot of focus on looks, but it's not so important to me anymore."

Catch up with Gareis as she chats about how motherhood has changed her for the better in the latest issue of Soaps In Depth, on sale now!

B&B's Zende Makes A Fresh Start

RomeFlynn.jpg

Having been living in Miami with his parents, Kristen and Tony, in recent years THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Zende returned to L.A. on Monday, June 29. Actor Rome Flynn says his alter ego will make a cautious foray into the family business when he applies for an internship at Forrester Creations. Though he's connected to the company's top brass, he'll be reluctant to name-drop on his first day in town.

"He's one of those guys that likes to get it done without using the clout of his name," Flynn explains. "I'd describe him as reserved. He speaks when he needs to. It's not that he doesn't have opinions, but he knows when not to talk. He's definitely wise beyond his years."

Eric's grandson gained a preternatural wisdom and maturity as a result of being orphaned in Africa when AIDS claimed the lives of his biological parents. Flynn agrees that the character's early history (prior to his adoption by Kristen and Tony at age 10) makes him more introspective than many of his outspoken relatives. "There's still a lot of pain there," he says of his childhood. "It's still very present on his mind."

They're Having A Baby!

ScottBaileyAdrienneFrantz.jpg

Soap opera veteran Adrienne Frantz (ex-Amber, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL/THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) and her husband, Scott Bailey (Sandy, GUIDING LIGHT) have announced that they are expecting, and they did it in the cutest way, with a candid YouTube video. "Yes, I'm pregnant!" Frantz confirms excitedly.

But what prompted the video? "I was watching a commercial," Frantz explains. "It was about what you should know before becoming a parent and I started sobbing profusely." Bailey was so taken by his wife's intense reaction that he couldn't resist recording it. "After the struggle we've had trying to have a child, we thought we might just post the video as our way of showing people that yep, we're gonna have a baby."

"At first, I wasn't too thrilled because I thought he was making fun of me," Frantz admits. "But at the same time, you've gotta be able to laugh at yourself, and it was funny. Life is an adventure that way." Now safely into her second trimester, Frantz says that she's feeling well and that they are both eagerly anticipating their daughter's December 1 due date. Girl Power

JacquelineMWood.jpg Like her alter ego on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) doesn't back down from anything. Thanks to her travels around the globe in recent years, she doesn't turn a blind eye, either.

"When someone asks me what my goal is for this year, I would say I just don't want to stick my head in the sand with regard to what's happening socially and politically," says the actress, who chatted with Soaps In Depth about her new mindset, one she hopes to share with her fans.

Wood's B&B alter ego is hoping to effect some big change, too, now that she's back in L.A. both on the home front and the heart front.

"The way Steffy sees it, this is her town," quips Wood.

In other words, if Steffy has her say, neither Rick nor Ivy will come out on top this summer! Find out what else Wood and her daring alter ego have up their sleeves by checking out the latest issue of the magazine, on sale now!

No Moss Under His Feet!

If you've been missing seeing THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge) on your screen, now's your chance to see him in person! The multi-talented performer is hitting the road this summer with his band, Player (best known for their 1977 hit, "Baby Come Back") as part of the Rock The Yacht 2015 tour.

"We've combined Player with Ambrosia, Little River Band, Robbie Dupree and Stephen Bishop," he reveals. "It's the kind of relaxing music you'd listen to if you were cruising." But don't expect the crowd for this bill of 70s artists to be full of baby boomers alone — Moss says it's more of a mixed bunch. "People bring their kids, and they love it too," he offers. "My daughter is 16, and she plays the old rock 'n roll stuff as much as anything."

Also this summer, Moss is headed first to Europe and then to US clubs where he'll be performing with two of his former Player band mates as the more melodic group, Ronn Moss And The Muscle. "What we're going for," he explains, "is a real musical, intimate, coffeehouse atmosphere." It's been nine years since Moss released his solo album, Uncovered. If you've forgotten how great he sounds, check out the music video below that he made for his Web drama, THE BAY using his song, "You're My Addiction." For more news about Moss, look for his upcoming Keeping Track feature in Soaps In Depth.

Meet Maya's Pal, Nick!

NickMaya.jpg

Scott Turner Schofield debuts on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL on Friday, May 8, as Maya's transgender friend, Nick, and he'll continue to recur on the show in the weeks to come.

An activist, playwright and public speaker who has toured the country sharing his own story as a transgender individual, Schofield says the soap role answered a request he'd recently made of the universe. "I knew I wanted to make a career change [and focus on acting], so I asked for abundance," he explains. "I said, 'Let this change be big. I want to be an artist, but I want so many more people to be affected by that.' And, um, I got it! I got one of the biggest audiences on earth!"

Though Schofield has performed to crowds of more than 1,200 people - and reached many more viewers online as a prestigious TED speaker - the actor tells Soaps In Depth he was shaking like a leaf during his B&B audition. "I had the jitters, to say the least," he says. "I left the meeting and thought, 'I blew that, man.' When they later called to offer me the role, my legs lost all functionality. I literally fell to my knees!"

Fortunately, Schofield says his nerves were instantly allayed on his first day of taping when he met Karla Mosley (Maya). "It turns out, we have a very close friend in common, and that put me right at ease," he says. "I knew we were going to be friends from that moment. Right before our first take, I took her hand and said, 'You're participating in my dream coming true.'"

While transgender characters are becoming more prevalent in the entertainment industry, they've predominantly been portrayed by cisgender (that is, not transgender) actors. "It's been one of the transgender community's biggest beefs," says Schofield, noting examples like Jared Leto's character in Dallas Buyer's Club and Felicity Huffman's portrayal in Transamerica. "While I will say those actors have done an astounding job, it's also like, 'Why can't we get a job?'" It's one of the reasons the actor can't say enough about B&B's decision to give him this opportunity. "It's a step forward, one I hope all production companies will take," he says. "There are a lot of us out here that can do great things and are available!"

However, it was a lot more confusing to her to play the vixen when she first came on, because Y&R refused to tell her anything about her character's background!

"I was completely blind!" laughs the actress. "I tried to get some stuff out of them, but they never told me anything. But my mother and sisters watched Y&R diligently, and they were like, 'I think you're Rose's daughter!' I jumped into the deep-end of that storyline, and made a choice that I was probably Rose's daughter and I was probably in town for revenge!"

All Hail These Queens!

QueensOfDramaGroup.jpg

Move over, housewives, there are some new ladies on the block... and they are here to show you how to bring the drama! In one of the smartest programming moves we've seen in ages, Pop (formerly the TV Guide Network) will air the pilot of their sudsy new reality show, QUEENS OF DRAMA, at 10 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 26th, directly after this year's live telecast of the Daytime Emmy Awards.

So is QUEENS worth sticking around for? Only if you want to see some of your favorite former daytimers butting heads as they attempt to create a whole new soap. Do parts feel wildly scripted? Without doubt. But where else are you going to see Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda, GENERAL HOSPITAL) give an epic eyeroll to Donna Mills (ex-Madeline, GH; Abby, KNOTS LANDING) before declaring she feels "completely insulted" and walking out of a meeting?

And that's before DYNASTY's Joan Collins (Alexis) has even made her first appearance.

In short, this is the reality show soap fans have been waiting for. Following Sunday's premiere, QUEENS — which also stars Crystal Hunt (Stacy, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; Lizzie, GUIDING LIGHT), Lindsay Hartley (Cara, ALL MY CHILDREN), Hunter Tylo (ex-Taylor, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) and Chrystee Pharris (Simone, PASSIONS — will air Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET beginning on April 29th.
